Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-08-09

This Privacy Policy explains how fu·do ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile apps, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information we collect

  • Account information, such as your email address, username, display name, profile photo, authentication identifiers, authentication tokens, account settings, and support messages.
  • Food and drink records and content you choose to save, such as item and place names, notes, ratings, photos, tags, price and location details, specialist coffee details, OCR results, check-ins, reviews, comments, likes, saved places, and profile information.
  • Social and community information, such as friend connections, friend requests, public profile details, public logs, public reviews, comments, forum posts, likes, saved places, and other interactions with users or community features.
  • Location information. Post-signup onboarding in Fudo requires a discovery area: you may grant access to your current device location or search for a city instead. We store the selected label and coordinates with your account and app onboarding state and use them for nearby discovery and recommendations. Your exact device location is not shown on your profile, and a city selected for discovery is not automatically attached to a log. Places or map pins on individual logs remain optional. You can control device location permission in your operating system settings.
  • Photos, camera, and image data when you choose to upload a photo, scan packaging or a menu, use OCR, attach an image to a record or review, or use image-based features. Depending on the feature, images may be processed on your device, by our servers, or by service providers that help provide the feature.
  • Usage, diagnostics, and device data, such as app interactions, screen views, feature usage, search queries, referral information, device type, operating system, app version, language, region, server or network logs, crash reports, and performance data.
  • Subscription and transaction information, such as subscription status, product identifier, purchase or renewal status, and app-store receipt information when you purchase or restore premium features through Apple, Google, or another payment provider. We do not receive your full payment card number from app stores.

How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including account access, syncing data across devices, backups, and customer support.
  • Personalize your experience, such as showing your records, preferences, recommendations, personal rankings, saved places, friend activity, and relevant food, drink, or venue information.
  • Operate social and community features, including profiles, friends, public content, comments, likes, moderation, and abuse prevention.
  • Process subscriptions, verify purchases, restore purchases, manage premium access, and respond to billing-related support requests.
  • Monitor performance, debug issues, analyze usage, test features, and protect against spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unauthorized access.
  • Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms & Conditions, and protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, and the Service.

Public and shared content

During onboarding, new Fudo accounts are shown Public as the starting profile-visibility selection and may switch to Friends before continuing. With Public selected, your profile and eligible new log activity can be viewed by anyone and may be indexed by search engines. With Friends selected, that profile activity is limited to accepted friends. Existing accounts keep their current setting, and you can change the setting later. Saved lists and drafts remain private, while Moments use the audience selected when they are posted. Public or shared content may be copied, saved, indexed, or reshared by others, so you should not post information you do not want others to see.

AI, OCR, and automated features

The Service may use OCR, image recognition, artificial intelligence, recommendations, or automated processing to help identify food, drink, place, or packaging information, summarize content, suggest tags, improve search, or personalize features. Depending on the feature and your settings, processing may occur on your device, on our servers, or through service providers such as OpenAI or other AI vendors.

When you use these features, the relevant text or images may be sent to those providers to generate a response. We do not use your private logs or private photos to train our own general-purpose AI models unless we ask for your permission or clearly disclose another basis. Automated outputs may be inaccurate, and you are responsible for reviewing them before relying on them.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

  • With service providers that help us operate the Service, such as hosting, storage, analytics, error reporting, crash diagnostics, security, customer support, email delivery, authentication, OCR, AI processing, maps, payments, and subscription management.
  • With other users or the public when you choose to make content public, share content, interact with community features, or use features that are visible to others.
  • With app stores and payment providers to process purchases, verify subscription status, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and provide support.
  • With third-party services you choose to connect or use through the Service, according to your settings and the permissions you grant.
  • If required by law, regulation, legal process, or lawful request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, us, or the Service.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections for personal information.

Data retention and deletion

We retain account information and saved content while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can remove saved content or delete your account from Settings → Data & security → Manage account where available, or contact us for help.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal information associated with your account within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain limited information for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, payment records, backups, or legitimate business purposes. Backup copies may persist for a limited period before deletion.

Public content you shared may remain visible if it has been copied, reshared, cached, or stored by others, or if we reasonably need to retain it for safety, legal, or moderation purposes. We may anonymize or detach some content from your account instead of deleting it where appropriate.

Your choices

  • Access and update profile information and account settings in the app.
  • Choose what to save, publish, share, edit, or delete, subject to feature availability.
  • Choose Public or Friends profile visibility during onboarding and adjust visibility, social, and notification preferences later in app settings.
  • Manage device permissions for location, camera, photos, microphone, and notifications in your operating system settings.
  • Delete your account from Settings → Data & security → Manage account where available, or contact us if you need assistance.
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through the applicable app store or payment provider. Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not automatically cancel a subscription.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International users

If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live.

Regional privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, portability of, or restriction or objection to certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To make a request, contact us using the information below.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required by law.
